The online republic

Interessante denkpiste...

With 1.4 million people, little Estonia, is the second smallest country in the European Union, larger only than Malta. According to its former prime minister, interviewed for this book, it is the world’s most direct democracy.  It also has the most free internet connection of any country.  It uses the universal online access to collect taxes and vote. There is some talk of dissolving Parliament and just let people vote directly each Sunday on whatever they key issues are.

Via: abstract form a book still to be written.

Taking Online Connections Camping

Around the beginning of August 2005, a group of progressive technologists modified the long standing exclusivity of the invitation only hacker event “Foocamp,” and started planning Barcamp. Armed with a venue to host two days of free flowing and open conversations, Barcamps circled the globe and spread the meme of Open Space Technology. They have since evolved to meet particular needs in Govcamp, Podcamp, Artcamp, Copycamp, Drupalcamp, and in September 2006, the New Organizing Institute (NOI) and Emerging Progressives decided to grow their institutional knowledge and foster a 2006 political debrief; Rootscamp was born.

Plone.org > vergadering voor publieke instellingen

De resultaten zullen binnenkort beschikbaar zijn. Ik heb alvast een aantal toespraken opgenomen. Het concept is een mix tussen een GovCamp en een conferentie.
